My Cruise Review- DLF Cruise 2006
"'ello Loves!"

Royal Caribbean Mariners of the Seas is a Huge, Beautiful ship! I personally think that
Carnival is more of a "party" ship. No complaints about Royal Caribbean though...unless
I can complain about not having enough time to do everything I wanted too!! :)

The Port was very organized. Easy to get around. The luggage handlers were teasing me
right off bat about my "Body Bag" Luggage! I couldn't help it! I was packed for 5! *lol* Lets just say that I found a really big suitcase that fit ALOT of our clothes in it. This suitcase took 2 MEN to lift! I have now nicknamed my luggage, "the Body Bag" So....next time the ship leaves out of Florida and anyone wants to stow away, I'll get you there. *wink*

When we got on the ship, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we were going to San Juan, Puerto Rico instead of to Royal Caribbean's private island, Cococay. I thought this must be PERFECT for the Doroughs! They did end up seeing some of their family there.
We had this detour due to storms at sea. The first day at sea was a bumpy one and a lot of people were feeling seasick. Luckily, I didn't. Bonine, gingersnap cookies and ginger-ale worked for me. I tried to stay out of my cabin on the first day because of it. Cabins were spacious. The shower had glass doors....there was a channel on the TV where you could see your location on a map, which was cool to see when you would reach land. Also showed the time, wind, temp, and a camera that was in the front of the ship.

The first day was a bit windy (wow, my screen is STILL rocking as I type this! LOL) and the Captain had the ship full speed to get around it. We swam in the pool on this day and the waves were so much fun! I have to say, this was the only rocky day on the ship, the rest of the days were smooooth sailing. Beautiful! Port Canaveral is a great port. I liked it a lot more that Miami's port. Doesn't hurt that Howie's Hotel is near it. :)

There was a parade on the first day, in the Royal Promenade. Reminded me of Mardi Gras.
We got our itineraries on the first day and we had the Meet and Greet. The M&G was in a much smaller room than on Carnival. This was a meeting room. Very intimate. We got pictures and gift bags from the D's. Keychains, pens, jewelry, bracelets, rings, frames....very, sweet! (THANK YOU to everyone who donated!! *muah!!*)

One of the BEST times I had on this cruise was playing Poker with the Dorough Family. I could have spent a whole day playing with them!! I won a chance to play with them by raffle.
I love playing Poker and didn't do too bad. Johnny was the first person out on our table. By the time we had our second person out, Adam told us that Howie was already out, TWICE! lol-- if we were taken out, we had the option of buying back in. Pollyanna is the QUEEN of POKER! She's amazing! I had to be her Personal Poker Chip Assistant. lmao! She really plays well and bluffs with the best of 'em! She was really getting some good hands too. The poker game was in a small private poker room. It was nice being able to walk into rooms that had "PRIVATE FUNCTION" on it. ;) The D's bought us all water. :)

Omgarsh! There is so much food on this ship. A great thing about Royal Caribbean, that I think all ships should copy is, they squirt your hands with hand sanitzer before you enter the dining areas. Very friendly people!! Howie was very sweet, as always. He seemed relaxed.
Very easy to bump into him out and about. I thought that wouldn't happen on a ship this size, but, there was plenty of Howie sightings around. Same goes for the rest of the Dorough Family.

Puerto Rico. I never thought I would ever visit Puerto Rico....such a surprise! It reminded me a little bit like France..? Cobble stone streets, close buildings. Lots of Christmas Decorations/lights everywhere. There were Forts all around the port area. Great views.
My family and I walked from Fort to Fort and ran into one of my friends and Pollyanna at the last fort. There were helicopters searching the seas....kind of eerie. We felt kind of lost. LOL
Pollyanna told us just to follow the Christmas lights...so we did, and found the ship! :) The Doroughs were on an excursion of the fort. I didn't even think to look at the group to see Howie's extended family. It was dark anyway and I wanted to get closer to the ship. We shopped and walked to the Governors Home, such a beautiful place. When we were walking back up the ally-way from the home, we saw Howie and his family eating at a little sidewalk restaurant. I didn't take any pictures and honestly just look at them out of the corner of my eye, I didn't want them to think we were following them. It was awesome to keep bumping into them though!

St. Thomas -- "the Pirate Island" as we call it. Scared me! We took a tour to the top of the island and I was scared out of my mind!! They drove on the left side of the road and the road was twisted and steep! We climbed very high in a mini tour bus with no seat belts or doors. Drivers would zoom passed eachother on a two way, head to head road with very little rails, if any along the side. I'm afraid of heights, so this was a milestone for me! I conquered! Howie snorkeled with is excursion winners on this day. Pollyanna had a MAJOR Sunburn on her back!! *ouch!* The weather was so crazy on this island. Sunny and clear, just hot enough...then out of the blue, RAIN. For maybe 3 minutes...the clear. Tropical Island.
The rain would sometimes be a light drizzle, almost like snow.

The Dorough Family played putt putt with some raffle winners on top of the ship. The view was breathtaking....Howie and the Island. ;) Everyone had a lot of fun with this. It was a great time to play puttputt because the ship was docked. Perfect weather. After the game was over, Howie took pictures with everyone again. Very nice of him. There was a Dorough on every team. The game ended just as the St. Thomas sun went down. I love Howie in flip flops! lol

There were pool parties on the ship....never saw Howie at any of them though.

We all had tables around Howie and his family. One night, Howie was so funny because, the music in the dining room was usually a piano player and a violin player- very nice- but one night, the music changed and the waiters all started lining up to march around the dining room. Howie had to leave the room at that time, so he got in the line and started waving as he was leaving, like he was part of the "show." It was funny to see. I'm sure I'm losing the comedy in it as I type it, but if you've seen Howie act silly, this was one of those funny times.
---- he had on a HOT shirt this night!! Black shirt that said "ROCK" on the back...grrrrr! ;)

The Dorough Family Christmas Show was ADORABLE! Very thoughtful. Yes, all the Dorough are so talented!! lmao! Howie and Pollyanna wore Christmas hats, Hoke was Santa, Johnny was Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer...complete with red nose and booty shake! Angie was running for her life from Johnny the Reindeer (Angie got run over by a reindeer.) Mama D danced with Santa. Such a great time! I was lucky with the raffles on this day too and got to go on 'stage' with Howie and 7 other cruisers to toot our horns! :D
We all got to pull these party poppers that had numbered horns in them. I was so nervous I couldn't stop shaking. I hate doing that! LOL-- but it was so much fun! Of coarse, I had to blow first, and OVER and OVER again....Howie would point to us when he wanted us to blow our little horn. Nothing like having him stare at you and point and not do anything but faint from being weak in the knees!!!! But, I did it! lmao....we "played" Jingle bells and some other Christmas songs. It was such a cute idea.

Howie took pictures with the Losing to go Cruising Yahoo Group. A posed Hug by Howie is heavenly! He was singing a song....I can't even remember it, but it was RIGHT IN MY EAR!
I know this might sound corny but, it's so amazing having a BSB that close to you singing next to your ear, even if it is a Christmas song....I think it was Mariah Carey?!? Who Cares! It ROCKED! :D While we were posing of pictures, someone said, "Say Cheese"...I think it was Adam? And Howie said, "Say Hot Dayum!" lmao I LOVE YA GROUP!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy we got to take that picture with him! THANK YOU for my Cooking Light Book! Sami, group, I love ya! ;) (special hugs to Angie and Ruth)

St. Maarten was the private beach party day. I stood on the French side of the island because the beach party was at a nude beach. Couldn't take the kiddies there. This island is gorgeous! I really enjoyed my time here. The water was perfect, the music was relaxing. I had to remind myself that this is the REAL THING, not a ride at Disney (since I live in Florida) I enjoyed St. Maarten. Some Drama here, while we were in the water, there were two men from the island fist fighting....OMG! SO BRUTAL! I kept the kids in the water while the band nearby broke these guys up....one guy took off running while some guards held the other guy. His wife was screaming and crying, then the cops came and tackled him right in the sand! That HAS to hurt on your face!! After they picked him up they slapped him. No nonsense here! Oddly, I never felt like we weren't safe though. I guess the island is just so beautiful, even something ugly is small?

DJ Howie D was supposed to start DJ'ing at 1am, so I went to the casino at midnight. At about 12:30am, I thought I'd go ahead and go to the club. When I walked in, Howie was already DJing....!! I did make it in time for "This is HOWIE Do it!" Thanks Su for not letting me miss dancing to that song! :) Howie took the floor with "Backstreets Back" It was awesome to hear him sing the lyrics. I really liked this 2 floored club! Mama D and Pollyanna closed the clubs down. We really had a great time with them!! (((((Friends)))))
SO MANY good friends around!!!! *cheers*

Howie announced that the next cruise is on the West Coast, Mexican Riviera. More celebs will be on the ship too (if all works out). As Requested and recommended by Adam, PLEASE join this groups MySpace!! Especially if you are planning on attending the next DLF cruise. Even if you aren't check them out!

here is his wife's MySpace:

I can't think of more to type, not that you need to hear/read any more right? No drama that was anything to write home about. It was so nice to meet so many people! 7 days was PERFECT for spending with the D's and Friends. Next ship that sails out of Florida, I'm on it!! Sorry, I don't have any more Howie stories, I was Bronze.

I REALLY had the time of my life!!
